A small Alaskan town that suffers thirty days of darkness is invaded by a group of very viscous and very hungry vampires. The story centers on a small group of survivors led by their sheriff and his estranged wife who was unable to leave on the last flight out of town.

There's plenty of blood and guts and having this take place in a small snowed in village is certainly original. The writers did a good job with the character development of the survivors; especially that between the sheriff and his wife. Unlike some horror films, the audience will actually hope that these people survive as opposed to hoping they become the next meal. These vampires do not come from the mold of Bela Lugosi; these creatures do not change back and forth between monster and normal/interesting human.

Who were these vampires and where did they come from? Where were they at before the sun went down? And, as far as the ending went, I would have chosen a different path.

Fans of this genre will find this to be an enjoyable film; there's plenty of gore and these are some very malevolent creatures. I liked the fact that an effort was made to keep the characters interesting as opposed to doing what a lot of horror films do by replacing that with nudity to keep people's attention (not that I have any complaints with nudity mind you).
