Simply put, this is a spoof of Frankenstein written by Gene Wilder and produced by Mel Brooks. The grandson (Wilder) of the infamous Dr Frankenstein comes back to the old castle after his grandfather's death where he eventually teams up with his servant (Feldman) and his very lovely assistant (Garr) to continue his grandfather’s experiments.

1. It's damn funny!
2. Well written and produced.
3. Perfect cast for the comedy; Feldman still cracks me up even after seeing the movie countless times.
4. A good ending (as opposed to the one in "Blazing Saddles", a movie that was written and produced by Brooks).
5. They were smart enough to film in it Black & White like the movies they were spoofing.
6. Check out the 36 minute documentary in the extras section. It's much more entertaining than the outtakes.
7. Oh, and yeah, it’s damn funny but with a touch of "quiet dignity and grace". :-)

Do you like to laugh? This is one of my three favorite comedies; " Blazing Saddles" and "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" being the other two. One suggestion; if you haven’t seen the 1931 version of "Frankenstein", find it and watch it first (it also wouldn’t hurt to be familiar with "The Bride of Frankenstein"). Spoofs always work better if you're already familiar with what’s being spoofed.
