Plot |
This will likely be the least-read plot on the site; like there are people out there that doesn't know what this movie is about. A teenage girl living in Kansas is unhappy with home life and is magically swept into a fantasy world by a tornado. There she meets some strange but wonderful creatures, both good and bad, and by the time it's all said and done she learns a valuable lesson.

Pros |
It's truly amazing what they were able to do with a 70 year old film; the picture and sound is incredible. You will be able to see details that you've never seen before. On top of that lets face it, this is just a fun film pretty much from start-to-finish. A typical good vs evil film with moral lessons weaved in. And check out the extras! Wow! I would have bought the 6 hour documentary on MGM all by itself and the documentaries will tell you more than you ever cared to know about this film. Now I finally know why Dorothy told the Scarecrow that she would miss him the most. :-) |
Cons |
Even though it is rated G, I know people that still won't watch this film as adults because of the scars that were left due to the flying monkeys when they were children. And I don't quite understand why the MGM documentary was put on a double-sided DVD as opposed to a Blu-Ray disk; I really hate double-sided discs. |

Recommendation |
Do you like movies? Do you own a Blu-Ray player? If you answered yes to both then why don't you already own this set? If you plan on buying a Blu-Ray in the future, buy this now while they are available. I really wish the movie industry would use this set as an example of how to release other classics in the future. |
