Plot

A mysterious man intervenes when he sees a man going after a pregnant woman with a gun. He saves the child and hooks up with a lactating prostitute (no, I didn't make that up) friend to discover what's going on and to keep the kid alive.

Pros

This film is loaded with action and, as the title suggests, lots of guns. Throw in the very lovely Monica Bellucci (never saw sex and gun play worked into the same scene before) and some humor and this is a lot of fun.

For those of you that are Monty Python Flying Circus fans, you can see how to kill a person armed with only a carrot. :-)

Cons

This is nothing more than gun porn mixed in with a little humor and sex, no real plot. You won't be able to help but think James Bond during some of these scenes; between the gunfights, sky diving and the lovely lady. Whether or not this is a bad thing is something you'll have to decide.

Extras

  • Feature Commentary by Writer/Director Michael Davis
  • "Ballet of Bullets" Making of Shoot 'Em Up
  • Writer/Director Michael Davis' Original Animatics

Recommendation

If you're looking for 86 minutes of brain-dead action with tons of expended ammunition, give it a try. If you don't care for violence and colorful language, walk away. I'd love to see a running count of bullets and dead bodies in one corner of the screen like what they did for Scarface with bullets and "F" bombs.
