Plot

Two men wake up in a filthy unused restroom chained to the walls. Through flashbacks you discover there is a man out there, Jigsaw, that are putting people in life threatening situations to see what they are willing to do to save their lives and, for those that survive, to help them appreciate life more.

Pros

For a horror movie this certainly gets high marks for originality. If you're looking for blood & gore and aren't afraid to cringe, you will find this movie satisfying. I especially enjoyed the ending.

Cons

Cary Elwes was either not up to this role or was poorly directed. His acting looked forced; like he was just going through the motions. Maybe he should stick with his popular comedic roles; "The Princess Bride" and "Robin Hood - Men in Tights".

Extras

  • Audio Commentary With Director James Wan and Writer/Actor Leigh Whannell
  • 2 Music Videos Including an Exclusive Unrated Version
  • Making of the Music Video (Exclusive unrated version)
  • "SAWED OFF" Minifeaturette
  • SAW Promotional Art Gallery
  • Trailers and TV Spots

Recommendation

If horror and gore is your cup of tea, you will not be disappointed. This was originally slated to be a direct to video film so you can forgive some of its plot holes and acting. The villain in this film must be one sadistic and rich individual to spend the money and time necessary to watch people go through their individual hell. If nothing else, it gets 1/2 point for originality.
