Plot

Years after a group of people spent the night in a haunted house/sanitarium, the sister of the soul survivor, a recent suicide victim, finds herself held captive in the same house while two people are hunting for an ancient artifact; one for money and the other for ego. Of course the artifact is evil which means most everyone will experience fairly gruesome deaths.

Pros

With a runtime of under 81 minutes, they don't waste a lot of time before getting things started. There's a lot of pretty people and it's real easy to decipher who is good and who is evil. And guys, all the lovely ladies are wearing clothes that are either too small or simply revealing; one seems to have the uncanny knack of always getting soaked with water, hmmmmm.

Cons

Here are the bad guys; arrogant man chasing money, a couple of muscle bound thugs and a lesbian chick that kicks ass. The good guys; a couple that isn't a couple yet (he's a photographer and she's the curvy loving sister of the suicide victim), an innocent bystander and a middle aged professor that wants to do the right thing. Yep, they're all here. The acting is average, the script/plot is predictable and the special effects are "ok". Fast forward through the credits and you will be awarded with a topless blonde lady and the implications for a sequel for the small minority of viewers that didn't get the reference in the movie; nothing like having to spell it out.

Extras

  • Character Confessionals Gallery
  • "The Search of an Idol: Dr. Richard Hammer's Quest" Featurette

Recommendation

This is a straight-to-video horror film that is a sequel to a movie that was a remake of a classic; as long as you take this into consideration before hitting play you should be able to enjoy it. There are plenty of unique deaths and just enough nudity/skin to keep the guys attention. At least this horror movie wasn't directed by Uwe Boll.
