Plot

Six criminals are brought together by "a boss" for a diamond heist and it turns out one of them is an undercover officer. Though you'll never see the heist itself, you will see the planning and aftermath of it.

Pros

This is the first major film directed by Tarantino and it sets the mode for his future films; dialogue, non-linear timelines, music, etc. I'm not even sure where to start with other than to say this is one of my favorite films. He proves a film can be great without a large budget, CGI, massive explosions and even naked women <gasp!>. The majority of this film was shot in an empty warehouse (the building ironically enough was actually an old mortuary) and almost entirely consisted of dialogue. Tarantino's gift of either picking the right people for a specific role/script or writing a role/script around a specific actor is unmatched by any other director that I can think of.

Last, but not least, is the packaging. This dvds are housed in a large replica matchbook that is stored in a metal case that looks like a gas can. Somebody was very creative when they came up with this. It just looks cool!

Cons

If you're easily offended by colorful language you'll want to steer clear of this film; there's 269 "F" bombs according to Wikipedia.

Recommendation

This is the movie that jump-started Tarantino's directorial career and is probably second only in popularity to Pulp Fiction amongst his fans. Odds are if you're a Tarantino fan you've already seen this film. If not, what's taking you so long?
