Plot

It's 2050 and humans have finally poisoned the planet Earth enough that they now need to find a new home. They have been slowly transforming the atmosphere of Mars via unmanned orbs but something has gone wrong. A team is sent to Mars to figure out what that something is.

Pros

The special effects and acting are well done. The film is only 106 minutes long and it doesn't make you wait all night for the action to get started. No interweaving love-story driving this film (unlike Mission to Mars).

Cons

There's a robot on this ship that goes from friendly to postal (it was damaged and goes straight into military "everyone must die" mode). Why this thing is in the movie at all is curious, but it really serves no purpose other than the studio letting us know it could pull it off. The two primary purposes it serves to the plot could have easily been served by something else.

Extras

  • Deleted Scenes
  • Cast/Director Career Highlights

Recommendation

A decent sci-fi movie that doesn't do two things that many sci-fi movies do; make you sit around through most of it bored and replace the story and acting with tons of CGI.
