Plot |
A group of missionaries talks John Rambo to take them from Thailand to civil war torn Burma on his boat. Once there, they get captured (of course) and Rambo teams up with the mercenaries that were sent in to rescue them to get them out.

Pros |
You should know exactly what you're getting with this movie from the simple plot above; lots of guns, explosions and general mayhem as Rambo does what he does best, kick butt. The good news is they didn't water down the action to get a lower rating for the kiddies; they went for R thinking they'd get a NC-17. And to be honest with you, I've seen much gorier (think "Saving Private Ryan"). And they didn't try to turn this into a 2.5 hour epic; 92 minutes was more than enough. |
Cons |
The same as above, you know what you're going to get and if that's not what you're looking for then you're not going to like this film. Simple dialogue, no character development and an extremely predictable plot. |

Recommendation |
The best thing about this movie is it brought to the world's attention the civil war and carnage that is going on in Burma; I wasn't aware of it. This film is banned in the country (like a lot of people there have DVD players) and the authorities there are none too happy with it. Getting caught with this film can lead to prison or even death. The bottom line is this is a brain-dead action flick for those of us that enjoy them and really not nearly as bad as a film as I was expecting. |
