Plot

Jack Sparrow is running from Davy Jones who owns his sole. To get out of his debt he needs to acquire an object and uses anyone to reach his goal; friends and foes alike. But he's not the only one seeking treasure for personal gain.

Pros

Great special effects and lots of overall fun. There's even more action than the first movie. I especially liked the twist at the ending; well done! If you're into extras, they didn't skimp in that department.

Cons

This film is 2.5 hours long and leaves you hanging until the next movie comes out to finish the story. In an effort to rake in as much money as possible, Disney decided to do two films instead of just one. See how many times you look at your watch during certain times of the movie.

Extras

  • Audio Commentary: Screenwriters Ted Elliot & Terry Rossio
  • Captain Jack: From Head To Toe - Secrets and Legends Revealed by Johnny Depp and Others
  • Meet Davy Jones: Discover the Creation, Mystery and Mythology of the Sea's Ghostly Ruler
  • Mastering The Blade: Swordfighting with the Film's Stars
  • Charting The Return - A Pre-production Diary
  • According To Plan: Journal of Filming the Movie
  • Dead Men Tell New Tales: Re-Imagineering The Attraction
  • Pirates On Main Street: The World Premiere
  • Fly On The Set Featurette: The Bone Cage
  • A Producer's Photo Diary with Jerry Bruckheimer
  • Bloopers Of The Caribbean
  • Creating The Kraken

Recommendation

Sometimes you can have too much of a good thing and the next film is even LONGER. The first film was so much fun because it was original and had a start, middle and ending. It's like too much ice in your drink, after awhile it just gets watered down and looses flavor. Yes, this is a lot of fun in places but it could have easily been trimmed down to 2 hours
