Plot

It's ten years after their first adventure in "The Mummy". Imhotep has been brought back from the dead one more time and he is pissed off. The O'Connell's are, once again, in the middle of everything and this time they have a nine year old son that shares the ride; he has his dad's sense of adventure and his mom's brains. Will they be able to not only defeat Imhotep again but also take down the legendary Scorpion King? I guess nobody in Egypt is ever "truly" dead.

Pros

If you're an action freak this film will not disappoint; the film makers certainly upped the ante from the original. All the main characters, film crews and special effects teams returned from the first film so everyone and everything will be familiar. And this is a new story altogether, not just a rehash of the first film.

Cons

This film rarely slows down and when it does it usually consists of Fraser and Weisz involved in a lip lock. If you're a Dwayne Johnson fan, don't get all excited when you see his picture on the DVD cover; he isn't in the movie very long and part of the time he is it's the CGI version of him. And the ending is so over-the-top you'll either sit back and chuckle or just shake your head.

Recommendation

Fans of the first film will enjoy this sequel; I would recommend watching the original first. This is a fun film that just has too many things going on. It feels rushed; it doesn't have the character chemistry of the first film. Whether or not to upgrade to Blu-Ray will depend on how much you like this film. Or, you can do like me, and catch the 3-pack movie set in Blu-Ray on sale.
