Plot

It's 2038 and all of Earth's resources have been drained forcing man to go to other planets for their resources. One-by-one these planets have been picked off by an enemy leaving only, you guessed it, Moon 44 left. The Mining Company sends an agent, Paré, up to investigate. Of course he's undercover and has to go up disguised as one of a group of prisoners that are also pilots to defend their base; they can't find anybody that's willing to take the job.

Pros

A unique plot with some rather predictable subplots. Considering the total lack of budget this film had to have had, it all looks pretty good. Yes, there are plot holes and clichés, but all-in-all I found it to be very entertaining.

Cons

Once you see the bad guy, you'll know who he is. The actions between the rough-and-tough prisoners and their geeky navigators are predictable and the actress playing the base commander was either miscast or misdirected. And don't go adjusting your TV; the opening scene is in what I would call miniature widescreen but at around the 10 minute mark it will change to Full Screen for the remainder of the film.

Recommendation

This is a film I never heard of until seeing in on a store shelf. After recognizing a number of the actors I decided to pick it up; that and it was also really cheap. This is a very enjoyable low-budget sci-fi film that I would recommend to all fans of the genre; just don't go in expecting Star Wars.
