Plot

A small town is enveloped with a thick fog trapping an eclectic group of townspeople inside a grocery store. Are there monsters in the fog? Duh!

Pros

Where to start? Simply put you have the right actors in the right roles of a very well-written screenplay. The creatures were intimidating, the human reaction/interaction was all too realistic and you were truly pulled into caring what happens to these people. Hell, even I jumped a couple of times during the film and the ending just left me staring at the screen. The human reactions to fear were spot on. And, for those of you that remember horror films being black and white, there is a black and white version of this movie on disc 2.

Cons

Some of you are really going to hate the ending; for me it added 1/2 a point to my rating. After seeing the film, Stephen King said he would have used the same ending if he would have thought of it. Think about it, the screenwriter came up with a better and more disturbing ending than Stephen King! The writer did not change his ending, he simply added an additional scene to it.

Recommendation

When I watch dvds and the first credit pops on the screen I immediately reach for the remote to go back to the main menu to check out the extras. On two occasions in the last year I've found myself staring at the credits deep in thought before breaking out of the trance to grab the remote; this film and Requiem for a Dream. This film is not for small children or people that can't sleep well at night but it has just become one of my favorite horror movies.
