It's the time of prohibition and the local "town boss" is challenged by a rival over control of the city and all of it's officials. The focus is on Tom Regan (Byrne) and his role in the impending conflict.

This film has an original and interesting story with a strong cast of actors to see it through. There's enough plots and subplots, mixed in with some dark humor, to keep your attention throughout.

You will have to pay attention, especially to names, if you want to understand what's going on. Sitting on the sofa day-dreaming while the movie is running quickly leave you lost.

This is the reason I spend so much time digging through sales bins; you never know what you'll find in them. I had never heard of this 1990 film before picking it up at the store (hey, it was only $4 new). Once I saw it was done by the Coens and saw who was starring in it, I put a death grip on the case and hurried to the counter. It was more than worth it. But, like I mentioned above, do not be distracted during this film; paying attention is critical.
