Plot

Watch how the plots and strategies unfold between the United States and Japan prior to and when they took each other on in this famous tide turning battle of World War Two.

Pros

There are a couple of things here. First, as far as the battle strategies and series of events go, it is historically correct. The subplots involving a father and his son are fictional. Second, they included a lot of footage that was shot during the war; including a couple of bad landings that anyone that watches WWII documentaries have seen many times.

Cons

Simply put, the personal subplot slows the movie down. Yes, it is important that we do not forget how we treated Japanese Americans during the war but it really slows everything down; I would have preferred that time to be used more on the combatants.

Recommendation

This is easily one of the most famous WWII movies and is loaded with star power. Every fan of this genre should have a copy of this movie in their collection. Even though there are better WWII movies out there, this one can't be overlooked.
