Plot |
Yet another movie based on a TV series; this one on the 1980s series about two Miami detectives; this time they go undercover to bust a drug ring.

Pros |
Great video and when there is action, it's a lot of fun; fast boats, fast cars, lovely ladies and the occasional gunplay. And speaking of lovely ladies, Li Gong is gorgeous; she gives me a reason to finally watch "Memoirs of a Geisha". The special features are interesting but nothing spectacular. |
Cons |
- Not only is original soundtrack by Jan Hammer missing, but the music isn't nearly as good as the series. When they do finally play a good song towards the end of the movie, "In the Air Tonight", it's not even performed by Phil Collins.
- The only things this has in common with the series are the names of the two main characters, their profession and where they work.
- There is no chemistry between Crocket and Tubbs; it was forced as if they just started working together.
- Most of the movie prods along at a very slow and serious pace with absolutely no humor/banter intermixed.

Recommendation |
This is just a cop movie that decided to use a TV series name/fanfare to attract an audience. If they changed the names and location, they could have called it anything they wanted and nobody would have mistaken it for the TV series. It's a decent enough movie, just nothing to get overly excited about. |
