Plot

A 3-Star General and military hero (Redford) is sent to a military prison that is run by a sadistic warden (Gandolfini). The General just wants to quietly serve out his time but is forced to act once he realizes the injustices that were being forced on his fellow prisoners and ex-soldiers.

Pros

Robert Redford and James Gandolfini played their roles to perfection and who doesn't like Redford?

Cons

There's nothing unique about this movie that you haven't seen before. A reluctant hero rally's a bunch of broken disorganized people to better themselves and defeat evil. The movie lasts over two hours and had an ending I found to be unsatisfactory.

Extras

  • Audio Commentary with Director Rod Lurie
  • Deleted Scenes with Director Commentary
  • HBO Special: Inside the Castle Walls
  • Production Notes
  • Cast and Filmmaker Bios
  • Theatrical Trailer

Recommendation

This isn't a bad movie and at times quite entertaining, but there's really nothing memorable about it. It's a standard good guy vs. bad guy movie with each trying to out maneuver and best the other.
