Plot |
So, here we go again. The peaceful lake in Maine now has multiple forty foot crocodiles that seem to enjoy the taste of human flesh.
|
Pros |
Now instead of just having two female characters like the first film (the young scientist and the crazy old lady) they have six (five teen girls and another crazy old lady that is actually the sister of the first). To make up for the first film, three of these ladies will appear topless while the other two will at least strip down to their bikini/underwear. The CGI crocodiles look really good when they're on land; well done. And, there are some people in this film that will make you cheer for the crocodiles; it's good having people you don't like getting chomped! Cloris Leachman, the crazy old lady in this film, provides most of the humor and is a worthy replacement as Bettie White's sister. |
Cons |
When the crocodiles are in the water they look like crap; there is one scene where it destroys a boat that's just hard to watch. There's also a CGI plane that looks as bad if not worse than the waterbound crocs. What's funny is sometimes the plane is next to the dock yet in the next scene it's gone (somebody forgot to put it back). Speaking on inconsistencies, see how often the weapons people are carrying change from scene to scene. There is one instance when the only weapon the lead actor has is a grenade launcher; the very next scene he's carrying a rifle without the launcher yet he hasn't met up with anyone. The acting is what you would expect for a made-for-TV/straight-to-video film. |
Extras |
- "Sex, Guns and Croc-n-Roll" Featurette
- "Surviving a Crocodile Attack" Featurette (basically it says don't go where there are crocodiles)
- "Lake Placid 2" - The Gnawed Up Version

Recommendation |
This isn't the greatest movie on the planet but it is a lot of fun and isn't stretched out for too long. I'm certain that the only difference between this film and the one that was shown on TV would be exposed breasts; totally unnecessary for the story but welcomed nonetheless. :-) |
