A simple farmer with an unknown past is forced into a war he didn't want after his son is killed and his wife is abducted by an evil mage.

The audio and video for this release is crisp and sharp. The performances, though obviously not award winning, were more than sufficient for this film (ok, other than Liotta, more on that later).

It's just too long; Boll needed to keep this movie under 100 minutes which would not have been difficult (just shave back the unnecessarily long fight scenes). Ray Liotta obviously felt like the best reference to playing an evil mage was Jeremy Irons in Dungeons and Dragons; he was rather annoying. Unfortunately, all fantasy films will now be compared to LOTR but adding John Rhys-Davies to the cast and blood-hungry creatures that are easily compared to orcs just compounds it. And couldn’t SOMEBODY find/make a helmet that would fit Burt Reynolds; I would think a king would insist on it.

Uwe Boll gets a lot of criticism from critics and much of it is deserved. The problem is that I believe critics now go to watch one of his movies hunting for as many ways as possible to hate it. I can't help but think if someone else had done this exact same film that it would have gotten a little more love and a lot less scorn. Is this a great film? Not at all. Is it worth checking out, yes; especially if you like fantasy flicks or are a fan of the many recognizable actors in this movie.
