Plot |
A nuclear submarine is sent to the the North Pole to rescue a team of scientists at Ice Station Zebra. A British agent and a squad of marines come along for the ride and, along the way, they pick up a Soviet deserter and an American Marine Captain. Apparently there is more going on here than meets the eyes.

Pros |
Beautiful video considering the movies age. Great opening banter between the Captain (Hudson) and his mysterious passenger (McGoohan) who plays the annoying sneaky person extremely well. The suspense slowly builds throughout the movie and they did a good job showing how dangerous and claustrophobic life on a submarine can be. |
Cons |
The movie is just too long and the musical score gets really annoying. And after all the build up, the ending proved to be very anticlimactic. |

Recommendation |
This is a good Cold War film with a decent story and cast. I still can't get over how clear the picture is and it hasn't been restored. People that were alive during this time will appreciate the tension that existed between the US and USSR more than those who weren't. |
