Plot

As you can tell by the cover, this movie isn't about the infamous motorcycle gang. It's about two brothers, that for entirely different reasons, go to fight WWII for England as fighter pilots. They are nothing alike other than having the same parents, have little to nothing in common (except for a girl but that's a story you'll have to discover on your own).

Pros

You should watch this film for the dogfight sequences if for no other reason. Howard Hughes bought all the planes required and filmed his own dogfights; three pilots died while making this film and even he crashed one plane himself doing a stunt that other pilots refused to do. There is quite a bit of trivia behind this film but instead of typing it out, somebody at IMDb already has on the trivia page for this film.

Cons

Old movie equals poor audio/video quality (by today's standard) and quite a bit of overacting. The story is fairly generic and the Germans aren't treated very nicely. And whatever you do, don't adjust your set. The movie will change from black & white to color and back again more than once before it ends; the reason for which can be found on the trivia link for this film at IMDb.

Recommendation

Like many people, I became interested in this film after watching The Aviator. I had heard of it before but didn't know Howard Hughes was involved in the project nor how much time, effort and money he poured into it ($3.8 million). This is a must for all movie buffs just to see what he was able to accomplish in film almost 80 years ago.
