Plot

It’s Halloween night in a small Illinois town in 1963 and a 6 year-old boy, Michael Myers, has just stabbed to death his teenage sister. Now fast-forward to 1978. Not-so-little Michael has just escaped the mental institution he’s been committed to and is heading back to his hometown. Once there, he starts to stalk a local teen (Curtis) who will be babysitting a neighborhood boy that evening. This can’t be good, can it?

Pros

This is a really creepy movie with an incredible soundtrack. This was the first motion picture for Cutis and the springboard for her acting career. Donald Pleasence had already been in over 100 films and was very convincing as Michael’s concerned doctor. The ladies are lovely, and occasionally undressed (sorry guys but not Curtis), and the ending was perfect.

Cons

The slang for the day can get really old; like "totally" old. Why is it nobody turns on any lights at night? For those of you expecting a gore fest like some of the current films, you will be disappointed. Where was Jamie Lee Curtin when I needed a babysitter in 1978? Hell, I'd still be happy to have her as my babysitter today. :-)

Recommendation

This movie was shot in three weeks for a little more than $300,000. When it was said-and-done, it made over $50,000,000. Even today this still stands up as a creepy film and has to be sitting on the shelf of anyone claiming to be a horror fan. I wonder how many kids have never seen a rotary phone before now.
