Plot

A group of police officers is sent to a Mars outpost to bring back a criminal that is currently in custody there. When they arrive, they immediately notice the streets are empty and something strange is going on. Here are the star roles in this movie:
  • The strong female leader (Grier) of the police force that just kicks butt and gets the job done.
  • Her 2nd in command (Henstridge) that happen's to be a long legged busty blonde and drug addict; in other words, eye candy.
  • The over sexed NCO (Statham) who spends the first part of the movie hitting on the blonde.
  • Two younger cops whose sole purpose is to die.
  • The bad ass prisoner (Cube) that also shows his good side.

Pros

The visuals are actually pretty good.

Cons

Just about everything else. Here's some dialogue you'll get to experience: "Let's put it this way... maybe I'll sleep with you if you're the last man on Earth. But we're not on Earth. " Now you should know what to expect; lot's of cheese.

Extras

  • Commentary by Director John Carpenter and Actress Natasha Henstridge
  • "Scoring Ghosts Of Mars" Featurette
  • Video Diary: "Red Desert Nights"
  • Special Effects (SFX) Deconstructions
  • Filmographies

Recommendation

According to many of the comments about this movie I've read, all diehard John Carpenter fans will love this movie. I guess this means I do not fall into that category. There are worse Sci-Fi horror flicks out there, but I can't think of any that had as much hype or spent the kind of money that this film did.
