Plot

A crew of salvagers, enticed by a stranger with photos of an adrift ocean liner, go out into the ocean to find this mysterious boat to salvage. As you have already guessed, greed is at the root of all evil and this little foray is likely to end very badly for most if not all involved.

Pros

What's not to like about this film? A great cast of actors, many of which even the average movie fan will recognize. Even though it has a simple overall plot, go out and retrieve this ship for money, the writers took great care in devising the underlying story about the history of the boat and why things are the way they are. The sets are beautiful and very detailed, you really feel like you're on an actual boat. Last, but certainly not least, the scares and gore are executed with great skill and care. It's not wall-to-wall jumps, they allow some downtime in between to build tension. And would somebody please give me the name of another horror movie with a better and more talked about opening 5-6 minutes than this film.

Cons

It wasn't long enough, I've never been a huge fan of "ghost" stories and they never did a sequel.

Recommendation

Yes, I'm in the minority when it comes to this film; I obviously like it a lot more than the vast majority of people out there, especially the ones that frequent IMDb that barely rate this film a 5 out of 10. If you're a horror fan this is a must; judge the movie for yourself. If you like action and aren't freaked out by gore then it's certainly worth your time.
