Plot |
A small coastal California town has a haunted past that is explained in the opening scene by an older man telling small children the story while sitting around a campfire. Every 100 years their past comes back to haunt them in the form of a thick mysterious fog and what hides inside it.

Pros |
As usual, John Carpenter does a really good job of telling a story with a sense of dread and suspense without a overload of grisly images; he lets you fill those in yourself. The story is carefully laid out and is added to as the film progresses. The music adds to the creepiness along with the way and angles that the scenes are shot. Add to that a very strong cast that has the ability to make you believe they are truly experiencing everything not just pretending. |
Cons |
Unlike "The Thing", also done by John Carpenter, this film completely lacks in blood and gore. And guys, if you’re expecting any of the lovely ladies in this film to expose their assets, you will be disappointed. |

Recommendation |
If you like ghost stories that let your imagination do a lot of the work for you, you’ll want to watch this film late at night with all the lights turned off. What it lacks in gore it makes up with creepiness. |
