Plot

A handful of Americans volunteer to train and then fight for the French in World War I as fighter pilots in the group of the Lafayette Escadrille.

Pros

Most of the characters were loosely based on the men that actually fought for the group and one was actually based on an actual person. The fighting scenes were definitely the highlight of this film; it's amazing what can be done with CGI. Everything about the quality of this picture is first rate and the extras will help answer any questions you may have. And last but not least, how can one dislike a film that stars Jean Reno?

Cons

Why do so many movies have to include a love story when that story does nothing for it? This movie would have been much tighter if those 30+ minutes or so would have been left out. It would also have been a plus if this would have been more fact than fiction; I would like to know the true stories behind the men that fought.

Recommendation

This is a visually stunning World War I aviation movie. Lots of action and lets face it, there aren't many movies out there about this war.

If you're a history buff and want to learn more about the Lafayette Escadrille, take the time to watch the extras on disc two; you will not be disappointed.
