Plot

This movie takes place 100 years after the first installment. The plot is simple and straight forward. Evil mage finds a black orb making him all powerful and awakening the black dragon. The villagers send out five heroes to stop him while they try to figure out the mystery of the orb; each one with their own strengths and weaknesses.

Pros

This film has a much lower budget (straight to video) than the first but they obviously spent a little more time working on the story. This is a much more serious action/fantasy film that the original in both the acting and the script. And best of all, no Irons or Wayans!

Cons

The special effects aren't so special.

Extras

  • Commentary Featuring Wizards of the Coast D&D Special Projects Manager Ed Stark and other D&D Players.
  • Rolling The Dice: Adapting the Game to the Screen.
  • The Arc: A Conversation with Gary Gygax
  • DVD-ROM Weblink to D&D Gameplay Guide

Recommendation

Even though this film had a much smaller budget, fans of this genre will want to check this out. It's a good 'B' movie to sit back and enjoy for 1.5 hours.
