Plot |
An Irish explosives expert (Coburn) hooks up with a Mexican bandit (Steiger) to rob a bank. Oh, and there's also a revolution going on at the time.
|
Pros |
Great visuals of the countryside and some impressive explosions and fight scenes. |
Cons |
Unlike Sergio's other films, this one does not work. There is no chemistry between to two main leads. The films is entirely too long and, as a friend and I observed, is boring to the point of having to fight off the urge to take a nap. Now I understand why, unlike his other films, I never heard of this one previously. |

Recommendation |
After watching this film I checked out IMDb to see how low of a rating it received; 7.7/10. I almost fell out of my chair; how could this movie be so highly regarded? My guess is that Leone fans will always love everything he did. Many noted that this film had to be watched multiple times to really appreciate; at 2.5 hours in length I just can't bring myself to do it. If you just love Sergio Leone films then give this a look when you have the time; otherwise just say no. |
