A man is framed for killing his wife and is sent to prison. The prison has a pay-per-view sport and is in need of a driver. It just so happens that this man used to be a race car driver; is this just a coincidence. He's forced to participate in the race where there are no rules and many of it's facets are controlled by the sadistic warden; Joan Allen in a new kind of role for her.

Lots of cars, guns, explosions, cool characters and some great special effects. There are a lot of creative action scenes and some pretty gruesome deaths. Add to that the fact that Jason's co-pilot, the lovely Natalie Martinez, is very easy on the eyes.

This is not a deep thought-provoking film; it's more like an adrenaline heavy video game.

This is a perfect example of a "guy flick" and you should be able to figure that out by just looking at the name and the cover. The "critics" didn't much care for it either. If you like the idea of heavily armed and armored cars duking it out in a street race then you'll love this movie. Invite some buddies over, have a couple of beers and enjoy! This disc will be seeing the inside of my PS3 a lot in the next few weeks; this is great in High-Def! "Death Race" greatly exceeded my expectations which, for obvious reasons, were pretty low.
