Plot |
This movie consists of two halves where a sick stunt-man hunts down two different groups of women using his "Death Proof" vehicle as a weapon.
|
Pros |
As is typical with Tarantino films, it's all about the story and the dialogue that tells it. He also has a knack of choosing the right people for roles as he did in this film casting Kurt Russel as the "stunt driver"; he was perfect as the antagonist. And there's a little bit for everyone. For the guys you have a large menu of very lovely women. For the ladies there's the second story whose outcome is perfect. Gear-heads will love the cars and all the stunts that were done with them. |
Cons |
Looking at the cover led me to believe there would be lots of gore and nudity and that's not the case. This doesn't detract from the film but because of my expectations the first thirty minutes or so can seem to drag. And, just in case you haven't seen a Tarantino film, be prepared for some very colorful and potentially offensive language. |

Recommendation |
For Tarantino fans this is a must; he really gets back to what originally put him on the map and that's dialogue. The film takes a little while to get started but it turns into a very fun ride. If you're familiar with the 60s/70s film this movie pays homage too then you'll appreciate this movie even more; if you're not you will at least understand what they looked like (lots of film imperfections). Take a few minutes to check out the extras. |
