Plot

An overbearing mother is bit by a monkey at a zoo while spying on her son. She dies from the bite but then returns from the dead to wreak havoc on anyone she confronts. Her son tries to maintain the situation but, as always, it just continues to get worse.

Pros

The special effects are fairly well done and, especially towards the end, there's enough fake blood and body parts to appease even the most diehard gore fans. It also has some classic lines like "Your mother ate my dog!" and "I kick ass for the Lord!".

Cons

Do not think for a second that this is a serious zombie movie; it's anything but. It's actually quite silly in a fun sort of way.

Recommendation

There are obviously a lot of people that think more highly of this film than I do. I suspect a lot of it has to do with the fact that Peter Jackson did it. It's a fun little film that became more popular because of who did rather than its quality.
