Plot |
Five Norwegian snowboarders get stranded in an abandoned hotel after one of them breaks a leg. Hundreds of skiers and tourists have disappeared over the years in these mountains. So, it shouldn’t be a great surprise to find out the hotel really isn’t abandoned.

Pros |
The scenery is simply beautiful and the characters involved are the type of people that I could see myself hanging around when I was that age; a bunch of 20-something adults out to have a good time. There are two couples, one newly formed, and a fifth guy who's primary role is comedy relief. Since there are so few people, there aren't as many gruesome deaths as most other slasher films but the ones they do have are worth the wait. If, like me, you do not mind reading subtitles, the Norwegian 5.1 audio track is very clear. |
Cons |
All the colors have been dulled down (just check out the extras to see how much) and this does follow the same path as most slasher films; young people go somewhere they shouldn't, they separate hence getting knocked off one at a time leading to the grand finale which often times is unbelievable. If you insist on listening to the English 2.0 track, you're going to miss out on a lot of the audio effects. |

Recommendation |
I never knew that Norway was a hotbed for horror movies, and I suspect they are not, but this is definitely worth a look. The characters are likable and the horror/gore is well done. Take the time to check out the extras; I'm very pleased they didn’t have the money for the very predictable ending they had in mind, sometimes simple is better. |
