Plot
A very rich, pushy and arguably a criminal, moves to Washington DC with his girlfriend to buy his way into politics to get what he wants. He quickly realizes that his "slightly" ditzy girlfriend needed a little refinement to properly fit in so he hires a writer to help educate her. He's using her as a front for his business so he can't just get rid of her. You need to be careful what you ask for, a little education can go a long way. |
Pros
Crawford and Holliday play off each other beautifully as the hard-nose crass businessman/crook and the sweet innocent blond. Watching her transform from an uneducated showgirl to a more intelligent individual is a joy. The one-liners she spews will leave a smile on your face. |
Cons
Judy Holliday is a very lovely woman with the great comedic ability to play a ditzy blond but some might find her voice a little grating. And if you look at the cover of the DVD, it's pretty obvious how this film is going to end before you even put the DVD in the player. |

Recommendation
This is not an action flick full of sex and violence; it's a movie with a great dialogue and some really good acting. This is a nice lesson in the importance of democracy and a good education for all members of the family done in a comedic fashion that will leave you feeling good at the end. |
