Plot |
Denzel Washington plays a quadriplegic detective that is spending his time thinking about suicide not police work. There are a series of bizarre murders in which the killer is intentionally leaving clues behind. He gets drug into this mystery and recruits a young rookie cop (Joli) into helping him even though she is reluctant at first.

Pros |
There's so much I like about this movie that it's hard to narrow it down. The chemistry between the actors, especially Washington and Joli, is outstanding and they take the time to do character development. The story sucks you in from the start and if you pay attention, there are a lot of little things shown that are clues and will also make you wonder if the killer is someone on the team. And this movie is proof that Joli can actually act when she has something to work with; lets face it, the vast majority of her films don't require a whole lot from her other than her looks which I still feel are overrated. |
Cons |
The one thing about this film that has so many people up in arms is the ending. Though many feel it's absolutely ridiculous, and I will admit it is a bit weird, I don't have a major issue with it. And for those people that are a bit squeamish, the deaths in this film are graphic though they do try to tone it down some with the darkness. |
