Plot

A man is murdered while having sex by the woman using an Ice Pick. At the time he is seeing an author (Stone) who has penned a book that had this exact crime depicted in it. The lead detective (Douglas) suspects her to be the actual killer. He has a history with drugs, alcohol and women (including his shrink who he also happens to be sleeping with). She is a psychology major that loves sex and playing mind games. Who will survive?

Pros

Casting is the biggest reason for this movie's success. Sharon Stone played the seductress to a tee and Michael Douglas was perfect in the role of a weak susceptible male. And for those of you that are dying to see Stone in the flesh, look no further. Throw in a good sidekick partner (Dzundza) and the detective's lovely and sometimes naked shrink (Tripplehorn).

Cons

In case you haven't figured this out, there is a lot of nudity in this film; some of it violent. Though he plot is interesting, it certainly is not complex. Apparently the gay community was up in arms due to how one of the gay characters was representing. Of course, all of their loud protests only succeeded in increasing ticket sales.
